Beyond Layers II

Inspirational thoughts and projects hosted by Kim Klassen

Days 7 and 8 ~  Week 4

Choosing Happiness and Setting Up a Mini Light Room

The inspirational thought for Day 7 was  happiness.  Kim suggested we write down in our journal what makes us happy, and then when feeling a little down, go back to the list for a little rejuvenation.  By choosing to be happy, doors will open, there will be positive movement, opportunities will arise.  She also had a link to inspiring stories of people that chose to be happy in spite of bad circumstances.

Of course, my thoughts immediately went to the garden and I put together the following image centered around happiness:

Day 8 had details on how to create your own little mini light room with foam boards surrounding your subject to help with lighting.  The challenge was to set up a still lifewith vintage in mind.  She provided a texture called 'revolution' as well as a gradient she had entitled 'vintage'.  The gradient was first used to lighten and darken areas of the texture, then used to bring vintage tones back into the image.  Her image was finished off with text.

Again, I headed outdoors where I could set up in the sun and utilize a white board in the back of the frame.  I tried lots of combinations, and finally  settled on two to work.

Memories ~ Following the thought of vintage from Day 7. I think I got a little carried away with the texture revolution and really poured on the grunge! I experimented as well with the use of the vintage gradient, did some desaturation, and who knows what else!! It was all fun!!

My second image, also utilizing the revolution texture and vintage gradient.
